Vienna

So we are now finished up with Vienna, and it's been a spectacular city!
There are so many beautiful Cathedrals and buildings around every corner of the city.
We did about 15 miles worth of walking in one day to try to see as many sights as we could, it's been exhausting but so fun. We also saw two amazing concerts- one in the morning, and one at night!

Highlights include:
Seeing Daniel Barenboim conduct the Vienna Philharmonic playing Mozart Symphony 39, 40, and 41.
Meeting Tony Mitemeyer after the performance! He's a really nice guy, and took some time to talk to us even though we could tell he was busy. We got to see his Hochrainer timpani up close! They have a very distinct, beautiful sound. It was also very interesting figuring out the steps to acquire tickets, so we thought we would share them with everyone-
First, you line up outside the box office an hour before it opens. When the office does open, rush inside to get a standing room only ticket (every seat in the hall is sold out to season subscribers) Then, you run to the concert hall to get in another line, and wait another hour. Afterwords, they let the line go upstairs right outside the standing room only area. After 20 more minutes of waiting, then they let the line loose and you run to reserve a spot as close to the front of the section as possible. Then, you stand up in the same place for the whole duration of the concert. Worth it? COMPLETELY.

After the concert, we walked around for about 6 hours straight, seeing all the sights we could. We ended our day with watching La Traviata at the Vienna Opera. They put on a very powerful and beautiful performance.

Pictures will come soon!

Next, we are headed to Milan.
